National Evaluation Center of Quality and Technology in Health
The National Evaluation Center of Quality and Technology in Health is the modern continuation of ΕΚΕVΥL, originally founded in 1988. It operates as a Public Enterprise supervised by the Ministry of Health, serving a wide range of organizations across the Greek public and private health sectors. Despite its public function, the Center is not funded or subsidized by the government.
🏥 About the Organization
The Center plays a critical role in quality assurance, evaluation of health technologies, and support for both state and private healthcare institutions in Greece.
Their digital infrastructure is central to their operations, and we’ve been entrusted with hosting and modernizing key parts of it.
🛠️ Project Scope
We were assigned full responsibility for the modernization and hosting of their custom-developed ERP system, which powers internal processes and reporting workflows.
✅ Our Involvement Included:
- Hosting their ERP system in our secured, EU-based Docker environment
- Upgrading legacy codebase to support modern versions of PHP and MySQL
- Integrating with Amazon S3 for off-site file storage and long-term archiving
- Ensuring 99.9% uptime and responsive backend performance
🔐 Security Measures
Given the organization’s role and sensitivity of data, strict security protocols were applied:
- Private containerized infrastructure with hardened Linux hosts
- Enforced HTTPS-only access with auto-renewing certificates
- Firewall-level access control and IP whitelisting
- Application-level hardening (input sanitization, session protection)
- Encrypted Amazon S3 file storage with restricted access policies
- Regular OS-level and container image updates
🔄 Ongoing Support
We continue to provide:
- Proactive monitoring of services and databases
- Weekly offsite encrypted backups
- Support for staff and third-party auditors
- Assistance in future upgrades and feature additions
💬 Outcome
Thanks to our intervention, the Center’s ERP platform is now:
- Running on modern, secure infrastructure
- Integrated with external cloud storage (Amazon S3)
- Easier to maintain and extend
- Stable and performant under daily usage by public health professionals
